Welcome to the RAYB A League

A League (6th and 7th graders)

  • Play on fields with 75' bases.  Pitching rubber is 52’ from home plate. 
  • League includes teams from Oakdale and Little Canada 
    • Parents should understand the need to travel to these other cities for away games
  • Games are scheduled on weeknights, usually on Mondays and Wednesdays but there are exceptions to this general rule
  • Full baseball rules apply (reference Mn State High School Rules) 
    • leading off
    • stealing
    • advancing on passed balls
    • stealing home/scoring on passed ball is allowed
  • Introduction to pitches that 'break' or move - curves, sliders, etc. 
    • recommended that these pitches are used sparingly to protect young arms
  • Only plastic/formed spikes are allowed (no metal spikes)
  • Bats must meet the BBCOR bat regulations (or USSSA or USA Baseball approved) and the bat weight to length differential must be:  
    • Big Barrel Bats (larger than 2-1/4” dia) weight to length differential must be -10 or heavier
    • Small Barrel Bats (2-1/4” dia) weight to length differential is unlimited
  • Equipment supplies by RAYB - 
    • Pants, belt, hat, team colored t-shirt, team bat, team catching equipment
  • Equipment needed by each individual player 
    • glove, baseball shoes (recommended but not required), and batting helmet
    • Males must wear protective cup, females must wear pelvic protectors
