Each family in the 2018 RAYB registration system was sent an email invitation to participate in an online survey regarding feedback and experiences from this past Spring/Summer season. We received responses from 122 parents, which represents approximately 20% of the families in RAYB this year. The RAYB Board sincerely appreciates the time and thoughtfulness taken with these responses.
A brief report of the results can be found in this LINK, some key findings from the survey:
·Over 90% of parents reported being satisfied with the family experience provided by RAYB
·With a few exceptions, coaches for both recreation and travel were praised and appreciated
·Parents supported both player and coach development through the continuation of clinics
·Only ~75% of parents reported satisfaction with RAYB fields and facilities
·Maintenance/upkeep, batting cages, scoreboards, and lights were listed as areas for field improvement
·Recreation league parents desire more balanced teams and a limit to the size of teams
·Parents who volunteered in concessions would like additional training
Thanks to everyone who completed a survey! The responses are reviewed by the RAYB Board and used to help improve the RAYB experience. We are already thinking about and planning for the 2019 season!
For the third consecutive year, Roseville Area Youth Baseball provided an opportunity for area youth to play baseball after the in-house season was completed. We call it Fall Ball or 9U/10U “Kid-Pitch”.
Our focus was to introduce kids to pitching and hitting pitches from their peers. In-house kid pitch does not typically begin until the summer before the 5th grade school year. However, we have heard from many families that their players are interested in learning these skills a bit earlier. This fall we had 27 boys and girls signed up for the 9 and 10 year old introduction to “kid-pitch” baseball season.
The season started with several evaluation sessions (to help build teams), and included weekly practices and four Sundays of afternoon games. This is another way we are trying to improve the Roseville baseball program and allow kids who want to play more baseball, to stay busy through the late summer and fall.
Thank you to all the parents that helped by getting the kids to practice and games, running drills during practice, and helping with field maintenance each week. Your efforts really made a difference, and hopefully were enjoyable for you as well!
Special thanks to our coaches: Tom Cuthbert, Adam Wright, Nathan Hopeman, and Ryan Warren.
All the best to RAYB families this off-season,
9U/10U RAYB Fall Ball Coordinator
RAYB families will recall the frightening injury sustained by one of our young travel players, Kaden Ellingson, during the league play-offs at the end of the 2018 travel season. The RAYB family pulled together, and with the generous support of this community plus numerous donations from other area associations, raised significant funds to assist the Ellingson family during this challenging time.
Kaden's mom recently shared a fantastic update on Kaden's progress and recovery. While each day must be taken on it's own, Kaden is back at school, enjoying time with his friends, and physically getting stronger every day. Catch up on the details and latest information HERE on Kaden's Recovery & Care GoFundMe page.
A special note of appreciation and recognition for the support and generosity of the families of the following area association teams who contributed to Kaden's fund: Anoka 11AAA, Champlin Park 11AAA, White Bear Lake 13AAA (multiple families), and White Bear Lake 11AAA (numerous families). What an amazing display of community and giving spirit!
These fine organizations help make what we do possible. Please show your support to these amazing sponsors and thank them for their commitment to RAYB. Interested in becoming a sponsor? Contact Tara Kennedy to learn more about our sponsorship opportunities.
